CiviMail no existence of recipients in 1.9

Hi,

I just upgraded to 1.9. We're still working on upgrading our version of AMaViS, but I don't think this has anything to do with it. I went to try to send a new mailing, and got halted on the first screen. Nothing shows up in the recipients area...just blank. See attached screenshot. Bug?

Hm, this is very strange; I haven’t seen anything like this before. :|

It’s definitely a bug, you should see selectors with group names below of the groups that are Mailing Lists.

Do you have groups that are Mailing Lists (a new group property in 1.9)?

It looks like the screen I had in the first 1.9 release, could it be related to http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,1243.0.html

Geesh, I feel stupid. It was that I had to set groups to be mailing list types :o. Based on my own mistake, I think it may be helpful to put this instruction specifically in the upgrade instructions (and maybe even the install instructions). If you agree, I could add it if you like on the wiki...

Lobo: Should we display the empty selectors in this case? Not much of a usability improvement, but at least the screen doesn’t look like it’s missing a crucial element…

No we should not display the empty selectors on that page. Might be better to abort with a fatal error message saying you need to create groups with mailing enabled. P: wanna file an issue and fix it

CRM-2343 filed. I assume we want to abort when there are no valid targets – i.e., neither groups nor previous mailings.

I have updated the 1.9 Drupal upgrade instructions as well as the general CiviMail installation instructions.
