Add/Remove columns in Group Members List
May 03, 2010, 08:45:29 pm
Hi all,
sorry for me english... this is my first post...

I have the necessity of add news or remove the default columns in Group Members List eg:
Name, Phone, City, Postal etc... and make/add news (or remove the existing by default...) my news custom columns eg: position, person, second phone etc...

Is possible? ...suggestions?

Many Thanks

Ciao
Kipper

Hello Kipper,
can you add a little more detail? It seems strange to me that you want your specific data for Group Members, are you sure you do not want to store the data with contacts? If the latter is the case I would use Custom Data to add the fields you want, and then probably show the data with a profile?

I would also like to know how to modify the columns when I look at Group Members.

Let me give you an example:  All my contacts live in the United States, so a "country" column is wasted space for me.  How do I get rid of it?

I don't really want to go about this any other way. I like viewing members in a group by going to the group and then clicking on members.  Another solution has to be just as simple, especially because others in my office are not nearly as tech savvy. simpler=better.

thanks for the help.

removing columns is easy, check:

http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Customizing+CiviCRM+Screens

Adding columns is a bit more difficult. If already part of what we expose to Smarty, then its as easy as removing columns

However custom fields are not exposed, so you will need to:

1. write a hook to expose those fields for those contacts to the template
2. customize the screen as above

Thanks Lobo,

I'm going to check that out.  Are tags exposed fields?

update: Okay I followed the instructions to create a custom directory, but to honest I have no idea what do edit in order to not show the "country" column on the members view.  Any pointers would be helpful, I'm just educated enough on this stuff to know that I know practically nothing :)

if you were happy to have your search results come from Adv Search - ie select the Group you care about - then you could make a Profile for Search Results and that would then be an option in the top right of the Adv Search - outcome is you would have the columns you set up in the Profile show in the Search results of your Group Members
