Profiles, Joomla - ReCaptcha and Account Sign in
May 11, 2010, 06:47:21 am
I've been reading the profiles section of the updated handbook (v good, by the way) and a couple of things don't appear to correlate with experience.

1. The book (and in-software help) suggest that you can include a reCaptcha in a profile (on its own, i.e. just a menu link to it but not part of a Contribution form and not a standalone HTML profile). When I select this option no reCaptcha appears - and the same happens on the demo site (even after I put my reCaptcha keys in it briefly).

2. The book doesn't mention the "Joomla user account registration option" and the inline help is a little unclear about whether, when used just as a profile, you can enable this option. Again, it doesn't seem to work on my installation or the demo site, but it would be really useful and I'm not clear why it doesn't work.

Can anyone set me straight?
Thanks.
Ed

check: http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/profile/create?reset=1&gid=1

the user registration option should work in standalone profiles. You need to allow public registration on your site to enable this

Thanks. However, neither of these things appear to work in either my Joomla site or the demo Joomla site. My site does allow public registration.

check:

http://joomla.demo.civicrm.org/index.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/profile/create&gid=1&reset=1

so recaptcha is working. I'll take a quick look as to why the CMS user creation is not working for that profile

OK, sorry. I'm sure it didn't work when I tried it but clearly that was just me being useless again as I agree that looks fine...
Thanks.
