Automated Mailings to Event Attendees

I would like to configure an automated mailing that emails a thank-you note to event attendees marked "Attended" 5 days after every event. Seems like this would be a pretty common thing, but I'm not seeing any examples in the documentation or forums. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thx.

dont think anyone has done this as yet. it will need to be a cron job that fires on a nightly basis and does the thank-you note sending

if you do write the code, please publish it so others can benefit
