Importing problems?
October 17, 2007, 05:15:07 pm
Aloha from Hawaii!

I've installed CiviCRM 1.8.11536 on Joomla 1.0.13 Stable (Sunglow). It looks fantastic, rich, powerful, and intuitive. However, I'm unable to get off the ground, as I'm having trouble importing data.

I've made sure I'm using a UTF-8 encoded CSV file, I've even removed commas from the dataset.  But when I try to import records (with or without saved mappings, with or without groups and tags), I usually get stuck at the "Preview" page.  That is, clicking "Import Now" either returns me to the preview page, or actually drops me out to the Joomla login page.  This is a small 75 row spreadsheet with barely 20 fields, so I don't think it's a timeout or overflow or whatever.

Does this sound familiar?  Is it a server/Joomla sessions thing, or something else?

Mahalo in advance for any advice!

1. can u try with a smaller number of rows (5) and just a few columns and see if it works

2. can u do the same on our demo server and see if it works. note that demo data is public, so dont import confidential data/address information

3. can you check your error logs. i suspect there is an error being reported in this case, but not sure why or how
