DEPRECATED: No WYSIWYG Editor in Message Templates

I'm a bit confused because under 3.0.x the WYSIWYG editor worked just fine in Message Templates. I just did the update all the way to 3.1.4 last nite and now my staff is pulling my hair out because there is no WYSIWYG editor for the Message Templates.  This means I now have to spend an additional day's worth of training and ongoing tech support for an application that is completely foreign to them on an external HTML editor. 

Their response is, "But it works in all the other areas of CiviCRM. Why did they deprecate it? That is really, really bad." 

People lose faith in severely deprecated features. This is a seriously bad decision.

The WYSIWYG editors didn’t work with the new logic-heavy templates for system work-flow messages, so we turned the editor off.

As your voice wasn’t the only one, we’ll bring back the WYSIWYG editor for user templates in CiviCRM 3.2 – see CRM-5971.

If you want to backport this to your 3.1 install, consider applying the relevant patch and see whether it makes the editor appear again.

In general in your role as a consultant / integrator, it does help if folks like you are involved in testing and commenting during the alpha / beta cycles to let us know about things like this.
