CiviCRM configuration and customization

We have a client project that is going to involve what seems to be quite a bit of CiviCRM customization. While we're confident that we would eventually figure our way around the system, we're wondering whether it wouldn't make more sense to work with another consultant or firm who already knows their way around CiviCRM and concentrate our efforts on the remainder of the site (which will be in Drupal 6).

We have already begun development of the site, and have the beginnings of fairly detailed desires/requirements from the client. For the CiviCRM implementation, there is obviously the back-end configuration and development work that would need to be done, but we could also see the benefit of having someone with more expertise help us to walk the client through how best to utilize CiviCRM to serve their ongoing needs.

Specifically, our client is asking for additional fields and functions for CiviEvent registrations and some CiviContribute components. We also noticed that there's still some work to be done on integrating Authorize.net recurring billing into CiviCRM, which would be great for this project.

Our client is a non-profit organization in the Chicago area. They provide residential and aftercare services for at-risk children. We're slated for a November 1st launch for the site, which leaves not a lot of time, but it seems like it should be sufficient to accomplish what we need.

If you're interested, please send an email to shill[at]matharts[dot]com to start the discussion. We'd like to have a developer selected no later than early June.
