Trouble with profile listing
October 18, 2007, 03:16:28 pm
I am using Joomla 1.0.0.10, civicrm 1.9

I made a smart group containing people who attended a specific event
I made a profile limited to that smart group with public and listing set
I added fields to that profile with public and listing set
I made a menu set to search and listing for that profile

Clicking that menu item goes to a page that lists all contacts rather than filtering for my smart group

I really need this to work, any suggestions?

I just ran a quick test on the Drupal 1.9 demo and "Limit Listings to a Specific Group" seems to be working with a Smart Group:

http://demo.civicrm.org/drupal/civicrm/profile?gid=1&reset=1&force=1

It's important that you very whether the profile listings behave properly in the "back-end" before exposing a profile via front-end menu. If it's not working there - next step would be to create a similar profile on our demo and see if you can recreate the problem.

I can't seem to get the listing view to work in the back end (I just can't see a way to do it) the smart group does not work on the back end, it displays all instead of filtering.

I have also made it work on the drupal side of things. What is the admin password and user name for the joomla install so I can test it there (demo demo just gives front end access).

Here is a screenshot of the filter not working

I've sent you a temp login to the Joomla demo via personal message.

I setup a smart group (Contacts in California) and used it to limit listings for profile 1 - seems to be working:
http://demo.civicrm.org/joomla/administrator/index2.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/profile&gid=1&reset=1

If you can recreate the issue on our demo, please file an issue with specifics on the setup.

I did the following on the demo site and my own install so I am pretty sure it is not a configuration problem

I did a search of people who had signed up for the event "rain-forest world cup ..." which resulted in about 6 contacts. from the results I made the smart group "rain". I went to Manage Groups, selected to view members for "rain" and every contact in the system was displayed rather then just the 6 that the search returned. The problem persists when displaying a profile listing limited to that group in the joomla front end (i.e., all users are displayed)

(I put this same note in the tracker)

I took a look at this too, tried creating a new smart group (rain2) and came up with the same problem. After running the group, it looks like the event name is not retained in the search criteria. This happens even if you just do an advanced search and don't save as a smart group.

1) Advanced Search
2) Select event from dropdown
3) Search
4) Open the search criteria, and note that the event name field is empty. Usually the criteria from the previous search is preserved so that you can refine or edit further.

Just a guess, but it's probably something with the ajax on that dropdown field. I know I've had some issues in Joomla with Firefox, using the quick find in the sidepanel. Some of those dropdowns are a little buggy.

This bug is evidently the same as a previously reported bug w/ searches by Event - which was posted in the Jira and resolved for 2.0:
