Hello.

I'm trying to import a large list of contacts into civicrm.  Many of the contacts are already in civicrm and have memberships associated with them.  When I import the list, existing contacts who are also in the list end up with duplicate memberships.  Screen shot http://timfluhr.org/files/Screenshot.png.  This even happens when I set the import to Skip duplicate contacts.

Any thoughts?

Hi,

We hit this too although I don't think Pete managed to replicated on demo & we didn't come up with any useful information about it. I think there is a bug but I can't shed any useful details

I am not sure if we are talking about the same problem since Tim's post and jira issue is ambiguous as to whether he is importing memberships or contacts.
In our case we were importing Memberships for existing contacts to bring in data from an old db. What occured was that in many cases the Contact ended up with duplicated memberships - ie i imported a membership for 2005 and they ended up with two for 2005.

Sorry for any ambiguity.  I am importing contacts not memberships.  It looks like there are two separate issues.
