Setting up organization administrators
May 20, 2010, 05:38:11 am
Hello,

new to CiviCRM but see real potential in it.

I have a crucial question about access/administration rights.

I have about 100 suborganisations. These organisation should each have no right to see another organizations information.

Here's the problem:
I want to assign one individual the right to administer the associated organisation and add/del new members.

I want to create some type of template/group that makes the individual administrator of a organisation IF the ind. have a certain relationship to the organisation.

Basically I want to create a relationship that makes the individual supervisor to the organisation so I don't have to individually configure 100-200 separate administrators.

What do you think? I don't know if this is easy or not but I've tried and can't get further.

Best regards

Jonas

I found half the answer at http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Multi-level+Organization+ACL+Permissions

Unfortunately the article was unfinished.

So, here we are. We have a custom field in the individual summary. Now I need to make that field connect to an associated unknown organization.

Alternatively I must find a way to have a "make supervisor of XXX" field.

Neither of those I know how to make.

check:

http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Multi+Site+Installation

Note that we've just started using this model, so i'd still consider this development code. If you do start using it, be prepared to invest developer hours in getting it work for your org / generalize it / fix bugs in exisiting code

Although the multi-site feature would solve the technical problem with multilevel administration it does not seem to solve the dreadful task of enable a simple way to grant administration right to administrate associated organization.

Maybe I should start in another problem. Is there any way to grant a user access and specific privileges to a certain action (like adding users) but solely to within a certain condition (like within a organization). If I can get a idea of how this is done with a code snippet maybe I can develop something useful from it.
