Retrieving useful data for event?
May 23, 2010, 07:09:02 am
I am totally stuck here and my clients are desperate to get it working before their conference is advertised.

Here is what I have.  I created an event (the conference) and made custom fields for it as well as allowing people to register guests which is all calculated and paid via PayPal.  The registration process, although clunky works and the participant gets an email and charged as you would somewhat expect.  However I can't seem to find a way for the admin to get a list of participants showing with all their custom details.  I also need it to list their guests and their details as one option is a pre-conference dinner which has custom fields for their nick name, member number and dietary requirements.  My client would like to prepare all the tables so participants sit on the same table as their guests.

I have gone through all the reports and lists I could find in CiviCRM and nothing suited the info we wanted - very scattered and incomplete.  I tried creating a views in Drupal which was a disaster and my latest attempt which I am still working on is using q-views module in Drupal to make a SQL query directly on the database which is currently the most successful.

The latest method I am stuck again trying to figure out the relationships between all the tables.  There doesn't seem to be a consistent approach to the relationships.

Is there anyone out here who can point me in the right direction at least?  I spent 16 hours on it today and can only charged 1 for it - plus I am getting a hounding.  Please - anybody?

Regards,

Joe

I have written such reports and, for better or worse, I often just write the SQL and then use theme_table to present the data to the user using a custom Drupal module. theme_pager can also be used if that's necessary.

As far as the table relationships, if you have a specific question, let us know what it is and we can answer.

wold be good if someone could extend the event participant report to also include custom data. should not be too hard of an extension, some other reports already include custom data
