Generating a CiviMail?

This is a higher level question, and I can't see any API's related to civimail. 

Essentially, I want to simplify the CiviMail process and be able to preset all of the values (groups, return settings, etc) so that users can just fill in the html email section and press send. 

There are a number of cases.  Mobile users (iphone and BB) can't use the civimail as is.  The groups include and exclude ability is brilliant for some tasks, but I find some users select the wrong groups.   

Theoretically, I could just do this through a custom mail handler in drupal or something, but I'd love to utilize link tracking and civicrm unsubscribe and profiles/checksum.   

Any ideas where I would begin or if this is possible?

Hi,

They aren't any api indeed, but it would be a really nice addition.

Some folks are working on adding apis to the import, not unlike what you want for civimail. I haven't looked in the code in detail, but I don't think it'd be very complicated to add a wrapper around the BAO and add it to the api.

What's your IRC?  I may get our PHP programmer to touch base.  He's also done some module work for customizing relationship tokens for civicmail.
