CiviCRM drops Drupal theme in IE8
June 02, 2010, 04:56:21 pm
My CiviCRM Drupal installation (v3.14) displays fine in Firefox, Chrome and Safari, but in IE8 when I go to CiviCRM the theme is lost.  I have eliminated all of the Errors on Page issues and have uninstalled some Drupal modules that I thought might be the problem.  Nothing has changed.

Has anyone had a similar problem?

What do you mean exactly that "the theme is lost"?

All of the css formatting disappears.  Pictures and graphics (other than RECAPTCHA) are not displayed.

Capture1 shows the way the page looks in IE8.

Capture2 is a screenshot of Firefox.

Any formatting in Capture1 is strictly "plain brown wrapper."

I thought I had discovered a problem in the civicrm.settings.php file in the civicrm base url.  A "/" was missing from the end of the expression after "civicrm" and before the ";", but that seems not to have had any effect.  I cleared the browser cache and even rebooted the computer.

Knowing how persnickerty IE is about code, I'm sure that's where the problem is, but I seem not to be running it down easily.

Could you post your header with all the links ?

IE doesn't handle more than 32 css, so if you have a lot of modules, you will end up with your css after 31 others, and it isn't applied.

If I remember correctly, one solution to this is to turn on Drupal's css optimization under admin/settings/performance.  This will aggregate all css files into one, thereby bypassing IE's 32-stylesheet limitation.

Indeed. But this doesn't work with private files (or whatever the name where you can't download uploaded files directly). They are workarounds... and anyway, not sure at all that's the issue in the first place.
