Can u have multiple admins only able to see their OWN contacts
June 03, 2010, 03:27:54 pm
great package

ive a problem where ive 2 clients. however , they can either both see each others members (student, etc) or none at all . if admin x includes person a , b, c. admin y ads person 1, 2, 3
then x cannot see 1 2 3 nor can y see a, b, c

if this cannot be done then i kno its not the package to use

otherwise flying

thanks

Some organizations are using CiviCRM in "multi-organization" mode which does this. A decent explanation of this can be found on the wiki at:
http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=26510788

You might also want to contact Dave Jenkins at Circle Interactive for more details on how they're using this with client(s) - his contact info is on Prof Svcs page (link above). HTH

hi dave thanks f or the reply.

the only prob with that is that if i have 10 people registered on the site , then i require 10 new URL'S. Thats not even the main problem, i could probably live with that or automat the URL's. the main thing is that a new drupal installation would be required for every person that registered and wanted to use the site

perhaps i should chat to the guy on the link that u sent over above?
thanks for your help

Hi Trev
I work with Dave Jenkins but he's busy right now.
The multi-org stuff that DaveGreenberg refers to is in fact based on the idea of having multiple sites, so you're correct that you'd have a separate drupal and domain (or subdomain) for each. The implementation that we've been working on is working towards 15-20 drupals hanging off a single civi but we're talking about organisations each with many thousands of contacts and substantial sites for each one. If you're looking at something much smaller scale, you might want to look into tying something in to http://drupal.org/project/drush in order to automate that side of things.
Is that useful? Happy to try to offer insights

hi thanks for the reply

il take a look at the link. i suppose the way u woudl think of what im looking for is if you had a thousand companies, but each company only has 1 person in it. there are many a great function on it. but i would b happy with adding editing removing contact, adding editing removing query, and then viewing the relevant reports

thank you for the reply
i wil get back to yu :-D

hi sorry for the delay...

wel ive written out a long reply about some questions i had. mainly that drush seems to be a unix command script . which is not what im looking for, nor do i have to much unix knowledge. im simply looking to have a mod on drupal which can allow

users to register and then to ad / remove / edit users / constituents / members and queries. and then for reports on queries. user a cannot see user b's contacts , queries or other informatio

i would imagine at most i would get 100 people on it over a year

each one would have at most 100 queries over the year

if possible i would like to have  a single or multiple admins who could log in and see ALL queries , constituents and so on...

i was going to get a simple php / mysql script to do this. it would nt however look half as great or operate with as many functions as civicrm, ha god if im cluching at straws looks like its back to basic php

any help is greatly appreciated dave

also what is the drush mm manager module. again from the site there was v little ann and barry style explanations on the site, i understood the tech side of it but it didnt give a good overview!

We also need something similar to this - we have members in various sub-groups, which can move and change, and certain sub-groups need to stay private, so that only admins of that sub-group can see members of it, while other admins can access everything except that. Is there any way to do that?

depends on your use case, u can do this either via multi-site or via acl hooks

for either option, u'll need to be (or have the help) of a good developer. If you are not a developer, consider hiring someone from http://civicrm.org/professional/

We have several developers, but none are very familiar with CiviCRM yet. Where is the documentation for those options?

u typically dont use the forums to work with a consulting provider. send them email / give them a  call  etc and have a conversation with them

hmm, i dont think the circle folks or anyone else thought it was a paid gig. if you have the $$$ to spend on your install, then please do send them an email and make that clear :)

good luck

im pretty sure i specified that. however i wil specify again. i already have it installed so its only a modification.

the 2 guys i was chatting to was dave jenkins and moreton. however they put me onto some drush page, which , made no sense whatsoever

any how il get back onto them again and ask

so just so im clear, there IS a way to have this set up on one single drupal installation. multiple people can register, be set as an admin, and then have access and access only to their own members  , students , etc etc?

thanks lobo
