subdomain link issue
June 07, 2010, 11:28:03 am
Hi,

After many attempts and looking at the documentation I'm stumped and was wondering if anyone would be able to help me.

Background: I've installed drupal + civicrm in a subdirectory of my website (public_html/data/) I've also set up a subdomain of my website (secure.<domain>.org) with an SSL certificate installed which points to the subdirectory and provides a secure way to access my civicrm installation.

Problem: When accessing the civicrm installation using the subdomain not everything loads properly. As an example there is a continuous 'loading' icon in place of where the main dashboard should be on the homepage. I think this is because it is looking for the dashboard in secure.<domain>.org/data/... rather than secure.<domain>.org/... Also when I click on some links it looks for secure.<domain>.org/data/... and as a result returns an error.

What I've tried: I've changed the resource URL in global settings to https://secure.<domain>.org/sites/all/modules/civicrm/

I've also changed the base URL to https://secure.<domain>.org/

Plea for help: Can't think what I might have missed and would appreciate any ideas. I'm sure it's something noddy but for the life of me I can't think what it might be!

You should try: http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/admin/setting/updateConfigBackend?reset=1

Thanks Kurund - I have been to that page already (that's how I modified the base URL).

I've currently got the following settings for the variables that can be configured through that link:

base directory: /home/<site>/public_html/data/sites/default/files/
base URL: https://secure.<domain>.org/
site name: /sites/default/

I think that's right?

Did you modify UF base url in civicrm.settings.php ?

I thought the civicrm.settings.php file would be automatically modified through the 'update directory path and url' page. In the event it wasn't and it the UF base url setting is now set correctly - thanks!

However whilst the dashboard appears to be working several links from the civicrm menu still appear to be having the same issue adding /data/ into the URL when it shouldn't be there. An example is if I click on the 'events dashboard' link the URL generated is: https://secure.<domain>.org/data/civicrm/event&reset=1

Thanks for all the good tips so far! Any other ideas greatly appreciated as I really am stumped!

you will have to again fix resource url: http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/admin/setting/updateConfigBackend?reset=1
