Batch update to participants attending COPIED event

We're using version 3.1.5. 

Just did a batch update via profile on participant status for an upcoming event.  (To create this event, I COPIED a past event and made changes to the event information and settings and the online registration page.)  I changed 6 people from pending to registered (by batch update of participant status). 

This sent new registration confirmation emails to these 6 event participants and very strangely, because I had created this event by copying another, the confirmation email contained the old, inaccurate information about when the webinar would take place, etc., (from the original copy). 

When I looked at the event configuration (thinking maybe I had just not updated it from the original copy), that had actually reverted back to the copied event (the event date, registration date, name, etc.).

The confirmation emails sent out as a result of the normal online or manual registration process were correct (I hadn't just forgotten to make changes to the event information).  But something about doing a batch update of participant status actually CAUSED the event configuration to change back to the old, inaccurate stuff. 

I've concluded that I shouldn't copy events because this could happen again.  Is this a bug?
