I've just made a second donation towards this. I've also posted on the Joomla forums, but with five days to go its looking like a long way to go.

Is there anything more we can do to promote this?

I must confess to not being sure exactly what the proposed functionality will be with this Make it Happen, but given Joomla has such a big footprint now (http://w3techs.com/technologies/history_overview/content_management/all ) proper ACL integration would surely bring more developers and $$ into the CiviCRM community in the long term, even if there's not so many of us now. And I agree, if CiviCRM doesn't work at all with J1.6 for a long time that would be a big setback.

1. CiviCRM 4.0 will work with J! 1.6 (in a similar manner as today) and is not dependent on the ACL Make it Happen. The schedule and feature set for this is here:

http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRM/CiviCRM+v3.4+and+v4.0

2. I think the J!+ACL Make it Happen is good for the community and forces people to think a bit more about the larger picture and how things can happen. It might not happen in 4.0 but hopefully will happen for 4.1.

3. Alan S from JoomKit is offering to contribute the remainder of the MIH (approx 1.3K) if the joomla community raises $1K (now $950). Hopefully this will spur a few more contributions

Ah I hadn't seen the roadmap, that's very helpful to know, thanks.

Also see that the campaign is now at just over $2000, so not too far from Alan at JoomKit's great offer kicking in..

Does this mean we are about $300 away from it happening?

Unless I've misunderstood the offer here - http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=470&t=573564 - it looks like it's just $50 away from the $2324 now..
