Add Employee of Member Org to group?

Using Drupal and CiviCRM, I'm certain it must be possible to automatically add users who are employees of member organizations to a user group (with more advanced permissions than regular, non-member users).
I just can't find how. I can't seem to hit on the right search to figure it out, or else maybe it's not possible?

Okay, so what it looks like I was after was the "inherited membership" option.
Except that for some reason I don't have that option when I configure my memberships - at least not with current memberships. (See screenshot attached.) For new memberships, it does appear. Will I have to recreate all my memberships (and somehow migrate all of my members to the new memberships)??

I viewed the source on mine, vs. the demo, and the selector dropdown is missing! (See second screenshot.)

It's not my theme. I'm using CiviCRM 3.1.5.

Okay, so experimented with the inherited memberships, and that really doesn't do what I need.
Is there some way to add individuals to a smart group, when their employer is a member?

I think you'd need to write a custom search.

you can use the field employer_id of civicrm_contact to do the join.
