HELP WITH LOGGING INTO CIVICRM
June 11, 2010, 07:03:17 am
???....Hello guys out there and how are you doing? Please I need help with my civicrm.
I installed civicrm on my joomla, and it has been working fine. I created membership pages for the organisation I am working on. I have been able to bring them to the front end but I cannot login after creating a membership account. I tried installing some civicrm modules which were supposd to help me improve the functionality of my civicrm application, and also help me with the problem am having with loging in. The problem now is that I am HAVING PROBLEMS USING CIVI_LOGIN, CIVI_USER, and AUTENTICATION_CIVICRM. I installed all three extensions, and I still can't login even after creating membership accunts....instead it gives me BLANK PAGES. I need help on how I can CONFIGURE THE CIVI_LOGIN, and the other modules that can help me fix the problem of not being able to log into. Thank you very much guys and I would be expecting replys as soon as possible. ???

Probably a bit presumptuous to "expect" replies as soon as possible. This is a community supported forum. The dev team is active on it, but it's not as though you've purchased a support contract or anything. So maybe you can be "hoping" instead of "expecting."

Anyway...

The short answer is that you're confusing concepts, and haven't taken time to understand what the various Joomla extensions do.

CiviCRM "membership" has nothing (inherently) to do with website access -- it is membership in an organization, such as a trade association. You can, however, connect membership with user accounts, and there are various ways to do that based on your needs. You can add a Joomla user account signup to profiles, which can in turn be added to the membership signup page. You can use the CiviUser component to expose user account signups but only allow members in good standing to register, or you can just use the standard Joomla user register form. But unless you've implemented one of these, someone signing up as a member does not, by itself, mean they can access the website.

The module is just a companion to CiviUser, and should be used if you're using the component. CiviAuthenticate replaces the core Joomla authentication plugin and let's you limit access to only members in good standing. So that's the gateway -- not the user account creation. Someone may have a user account, but if their membership expires, they won't be able to login.

Look under advanced settings for your profile. There's an option to add the joomla user account signup.
