Redirected to Joomla Login instead of saving config
June 14, 2010, 07:48:52 am
hey everyone!

I've been puzzled by a problem now for quite a while (using civicrm 3.1.3 and joomla 1.5)
whenever I hit "save" button in the civicrm configurations instead of saving my settings it redirects me to the joomla backend login & logs me out at the same time

I do have the joomla super admin rights and everything else works just the way it's supposed to. I'm certainly happy to provide you with more data if there's anything that helps....

Any ideas? Really urgent....

Thank you in advance,
Florian

you're accessing the site with the www. form instead of the root form, or vice versa --
whatever is set in your civicrm.settings.php file should be what you access the site with.

what's happening is that your browser is saving session data to one url form, and then when you access civicrm it kicks to whatever is in the configuration settings and you lose the session data and are logged out.

Sorry, just noted now - the thing is that the url actually changes from
http://www.sample.org/administrator/index2.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/admin/setting/smtp&
to http://sample.org/administrator/index2.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/admin/setting/smtp&

The thing is that I didn't do the installation myself so I don't have a clue what could have gone wrong.

Sorry for having troubles with basics but hey - I really want to learn...

Cheers,
Florian

sorry for annoying you guys after reading your post 3 times (carefully) and playing around with it for another hour I finally managed to simply login to sample.org/administrator instead of www.sample.org/administrator

You know how I get angry at people who don't think for themselves and randomly fill up a forum with their stuff? Well, today that was me ;-)

Sorry and thank you again

correct -- you just need to login to the site using whatever form of the url was configured in CiviCRM. that way you ensure the browser retains the session data (like the fact that you're logged in) when it visits civicrm resources.

FWIW, I usually add an htaccess directive to my site to force the use of one form or the other, so I don't have to think about it again.

yeah, that sounds like a good idea - in this case whoever installed it happened to do lots of messy stuff
www. in one settings file - no www. in another one.... it eventually confused joomla, search engines, civiCRM and last but not least myself ;-)

thank you again - you folks are awesome
