Custom Date Field - possible bug

Encountered the following problem on my CiviCRM and on the demo, not sure if it's a bug or just something that hasn't been included as a feature yet:

1. Created custom data group for organisation, selected allow multiple records

2. Created a custom date field with date format YYYY (I only want to record the year); created custom numeric field to record income for that year; saved

3. Entered data into the date and numeric fields on an organisation record, and it pops up a calendar asking for year, month, day.  Selected 2008 as the year, clicked a random date in that year on the calendar, saved.  When I go back into the entry the date saved is today's date, 2010.

4. Checked another custom date field on my own CiviCRM I'd made for a Relationship with YYYY date format and the same thing occurs, dates are saved as today's date, current year.

I will create a numeric field as a workaround for this case as only low-level reporting is required from these fields, but recording a year as a date would be useful in the future.

I already reproduced it on the demo with the same result (ie steps above apply to my site and the demo site).

I managed to reproduce as well, on both 3.1 and 3.2 - filed an issue: http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-6388

This issue is already fix as part of http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-6384, you can get the patch from: http://fisheye2.atlassian.com/changelog/CiviCRM/branches/v3.1?cs=28364

Hi,

I've installed the patch, and it fixed the custom field up fine.  However, there is now the same problem existing in the Advanced Search for the custom field.  I've added this as a comment to the original issue (http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-6384), but I'm not sure if I should be creating a new issue.  I can't replicate it on the demo site as the patch hasn't been installed there yet.
