Import of contact Household data -- does not import spouse, kids, etc.
June 20, 2010, 06:12:55 am
I am trying to import the household records in one step ... have been unsuccessful.  Please let me know if a single step import will work.

1.  See attached CSV file with these columns

Head of household name,Last Name,First Name,Spouse,Home Street,Home City,Home State,Zip,Home Phone,Household E-mailAddress,E-mailAddress 2,Business Phone,Fax,Kid1,Kid2,Kid3,Kid4,Parent1,Parent2,Member

2.  I import as household, see settings in attached image files.  4 household records are being imported

3.  The result is I get 12 records, 4 for household, 4 for head of household and 4 with blank name.  I do not get kids record and parent records.

Let me know what I am doing wrong.

have similar problem with org imports with employer/ee relationships.

solved the problem by importing separately, not trying to import multiple contacts at once.

try importing the household first.

then import the kids and spouse, tying them to the household on Internal_ID or some other reliable unique identifyer

Want to import a student (first/last name) and parent (first/last name) from CSV
August 25, 2010, 02:33:46 pm
Hello..

I'd like to import a CSV that has both student and parent names, address, city and zip.

The columns are as follows:
parent first name, parent last name, child first name, child last name, address, city, zip and phone.

I am not having success doing this an am only successfully importing the child's name, add, city, zip and phone on one record and the parent's last name on the record above it (no address etc. for parent).

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Maureen

Hi Maureen,

If you are able to anonymise your import you might be able to try it on the sandbox & post some links to show the outcome.  There are a few people in this thread reporting seemingly similar problems so it may be a new bug.

I'd make sure you are on the latest version first though - there was an export related issue fixed in 3.2.2 so it may affect imports too

I'll try Lobo's suggestion and if that works for me.  If not, I'll be back Eileen. Thank you both for your prompt help. M-
