email alert when a contribution form is submitted
June 23, 2010, 12:09:52 am
I've got a contribution page that enables visitors to sign up for membership. I want to be able to send an email alert to the finance officer whenever that form gets submitted, so that they can be immediately aware of the new sign up, and get the payment process underway (we are not using online payments as the amount is fairly large and the members are organisations that need to be invoiced).

The contribution page uses what appears to be an inbuilt profile for organisation information, so I can't do anything to edit that through the UI, and another custom profile to gather the bits of data that the above profile doesn't address. I can set this custom profile to send an email whenever it gets used, but the information it includes is only related to that profile and not all of the information collected by the contribution page.

I can't see any mechanism for sending an alert when a contribution form is submitted (which seems like a major oversight). Maybe I'm missing something obvious?

Others must have come across the same issue. How can I get an alert sent to officers when a contribution page gets submitted?

Thanks for any input on this one.

Graham

Hi Graham - on the Contribution Page set up, are you sending auto invoice/receipts - if so you can bcc that as your 'alert' - may not have all the data you want - but may be a step in right direction - if you aren't sending invoice/receipts then not sure what to suggest

you can also use hooks to implement what you need.
