Standalone XML error, taken all the steps, still not working
June 24, 2010, 11:39:03 am
Hi there I'm doing a standalone 2.2.7 server migration for the first time...and I'm getting that XML error you get after migration, you know the one: XML data could not be loaded. Make sure you specified the correct path. ... then packages/IDS/Filter/Storage.php on line 217

This is pretty well documented that this issue can be fixed by deleting Config.IDS.ini and making sure the templates_c directory is cleared and the config_backend column is NULLed.

I've taken all these steps.  I triple checked config.civicrm.php.  It's worth noting that this site uses OpenID and I can use Open ID to login/authorize but after my return to civicrm, I get the error at that time.  Each time the error occurs, the config_backend field is recreated, with the data from the OLD site, and I have to null it again each time.  Where is this data coming from, do I need to reset the config_backend in some other way or run a script of some sort?  How does this work with standalone?

I've also made sure my php-xml package is installed on the server.  I've found an assortment of threads, this one and this one and of course the docs on migration which discuss the issue, but none solve my problem.  Either I'm missing something or there is a larger issue afoot.  Can any one of you guys enlighten me?

I found out the cause of this.  The standalone setup was misconfigured.  There were duplicates (2x each) of both the civicrm.settings.php and the Config.IDS.ini files and I was changing the wrong files from the pair. I'm not sure who installed this standalone but evidently it was done improperly.

A handy Linux "find" command from the command line helped me find the duplicate files and solve the issue.
