Duplicate Contact being created when additional custom profiles are submitted

I am having a problem with a custom profile I am using to gather additional information.

All of the profiles are being submitted by existing contacts, but when users fill out the custom profile,it creates a new contact. I am using dupe matching for email and first and last name, but still, the duplicates are being created. Any ideas?

In profile Advanced Settings there is option for dedupe, did you check that?
