Inboud Email not being logged against Constituent
June 25, 2010, 12:51:44 pm
I have recently installed CiviCRM on top of Drupal. The mailings go out fine. However, when someone replies, it is recorded against their name on the Mailing Report perfectly but, there is no corresponding Inbound Message in their activities. I have reinstalled several times and sometimes it worked but now I cannot get it to work at all.

Thanks for you help in advance.

Maybe I'm confused then. Under what circumstances are "Inbound Emails" added as activities? I've definately had a few. Also, the intro on http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Autofiling+email+activities+via+EmailProcessor says:

Quote
"The email processor is a script that will attempt to parse all emails in an email account (e.g. a POP3 inbox) looking at the To: and Cc: fields and trying to match up to CiviCRM contacts' emails. If it finds a match it will file the email as an activity for those contacts. If there is no match it will create a new contact and file the email under that contact."

Am I understanding this incorrectly?

Hi,

that's a different feature, what you are describing in the doc isn't a reply to a civimailing. The use case of the doc is that if I mail you and CC civicrm@yourorganization.com the mail will be recorded as an activity with your contact in civicrm.

but yes, storing the replies as activities seems logical, if you have php skills, that would be a good addition.

I will attempt it but, because free time is at a premium and PHP skills are severely lacking at present, it will not be in the next week or so.

However, I have spent many years coding in other languages and am looking forward to the diversion.

Thanks for your help.

Martin.

Any chance you have had any success with using the emailprocessor to record activities to a contacts record
