Unable to edit (add text to) a page in the Civi wiki
June 30, 2010, 11:27:31 am
I wanted to add my 2c to a document in the Wiki:

"Moving an Existing Installation to a New Server or Location"
http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Moving+an+Existing+Installation+to+a+New+Server+or+Location

And find no spot once logged in to edit the page.

I inquired from the last person who edited that page, and he replied...

So did suddenly that page become read-only, or or or...

I wanted to add my 2c as to what steps were successful for getting Civi moved in our case.

we are close to releasing 3.2, hence 3.1 docs are frozen (the wiki versioning system is not very good). try changing or adding a comment to this doc instead:

The full quote of what I replied was:

I just registered and then I was able to do it for a bit, and then the
permission vanished.

It might be that since 3.2 is in beta that they've removed the ability
to edit the 3.1 documents.

You'll have to ask on the forum, I guess.

Wow... radically different version!

For me, I am trying to migrate a Drupal 5.x / Civi 2.0.7 installation from shared web hosting (Debian Etch) to an Ubuntu 8.04 VPS package.

I had to...
1) Hand edit the strings to correct paths in the Civi database... via PHPMyAdmin as hand editing the database backup is a bad bad bad bad bad bad bad thing to do with InnoDB!  :o
2) Log into Drupal as uid=1 and get Drupal happy post-move
3) Then start getting Civi happy... which when verifying directories I got a red error box
4) At that point, logged in still as uid=1 in Drupal, THEN I null'ed the Civi string containing the paths
5) Did the refresh steps and no more red error box

If I null'ed the string in the DB BEFORE getting logged in, then the errors got even worse.

So next to test the D5 -> D6 migration and if that goes well, test upgrading Civi all the way to current code... at least in the 3.1.x series.  ;)
