I have a new test site for CiviCRM 1.9.11960, Joomla 1.0.12. This installed on a WAMP server.

Importing a small .csv file of contacts (50 records) proceeds OK but when the 'Are You sure you want to Import Now' is OK'ed. the 'Importing Records' page is shown briefly, before returning to Step 3, without any contacts being imported.

(I looked at the Joomla/media/civicrm/upload folder and the test files are there, but not visible in  'Search for contacts' , or visible in the database  - the only contact visible is the Administrator contact)

There are no relevant errors in the Apache log.

The problem is specific to Joomla.  (I also have a test Drupal site which Imports the same files with no problem.)

So it sounds like a Joomla setup problem, but having pored over all the config options and searched far and wide I can't find anything.

Probably something dumb and simple - hope so !

The import problem with 1.9 and Joomla has been recreated by our team and posted for a 1.9 fix:
