Synchronizing CiviCRM contacts to Drupal
July 06, 2010, 12:24:39 am
Bonjour everyone!

I am a newbie in CiviCRM and I have been doing this web portal wherein the contacts are mainly in CiviCRM (civimember component). I want to synchronize it to Drupal (creating login accounts for each contact).

I followed the steps on this site: http://cfatravel.com/Synchronize%20Users-to-Contacts.html

It has been successful but when I go to my Drupal contacts, none of the civicrm contacts where synchronized.  ???

Am I missing something?  :-\

Please help, thanks!  :)

I suspect the instructions were for going in the opposite direction - since it describes cases where you have Drupal and are adding civicrm to it.

The drupal module 'user import' has worked fine for us when wanting to grab lots of civicrm contacts with no drupal user accounts and creating those accounts.

Good luck

Hi Peter,

Thank you so much. But I don't think this is the solution to my problem.

The scenario is:

I have multi-level membership in civimember (each with different roles). I want to integrate those in Drupal as such that once synchronized, that user will be able to login to the Drupal website, view/edit his/her membership profile.

For example:

user1 - belongs to Group1 under Test1 membership type. I want user1 to be able to login to the Drupal website. What do I need to do? Do I need to create separate account and add user1 in Drupal?  ???

Any help is appreciated. :)

Thank you!

Maybe we are talkign past each other - but it isn't clear if you yet have a Drupal record for your civicrm contacts.

if not then you need to create one. You do this one at a time by copying the email address from the civicrm record - and going to Drupal > Add User

And so long as the email is 'unique' in civicrm then drupal will create a Drupal account using that email and it will be linked to the CiviCRM record.

if you want to do this for loads of contacts. use 'user import'

If you are talking about synching between a civicrm Membership status and a Drupal role, then you need to use the Member Synch module.

Sorry if I am not being hugely clear but your description has confused me which means it must be past bedtime down under.

And I think the 'user1' is confusing me as that might mean the drupal user1 ie Administrator.

But yes in general "Do I need to create separate account and add (person) in Drupal' - and if you want to do that for lots - then as above - User Import module lets you grab all the emails you want from civicrm - and create a Drupal user for each of those records.
