Custom data fields that were deleted from a profile are still showing up
July 08, 2010, 01:40:05 pm
We have a profile on our site that allows anonymous users to make a telephone appointment.
http://www.futureofmusic.org/civicrm/profile/create?reset=1&gid=11

The profile includes about 12 custom data fields.

I was testing something last week and duplicated one of the custom data fields -- "choose an appointment date" -- so the profile displayed that field twice.  After I was done testing, I went back to administer > custom data and deleted that duplicated data field.

Despite the field being deleted, and the CiviCRM preview of the profile showing that the field is no longer visible, the duplicate field *is* still visible for anonymous users on various browsers (I've tried Firefox and Safari on two different computers). Since it confuses data entry, I need to make sure it's not there for anonymous users, but I can't figure out why it's still there or how to get rid of it.

Screen captures show the profile in Safari (logged in as a user), and in Firefox (not logged in). Note the duplicate "choose an appointment date" visible on the Firefox/anonymous version.

CiviCRM 3.1.3. Drupal 6.

I'll apologize in advance if I've missed something incredibly obvious.

try clearing out templates_c directory.

This is located most likely in this directory:

<<your website root>>/sites/default/files/civicrm/templates_c/en_US/en_US

Login to your server as user "root" or any user with the permissions to delete all files in this directory, and do so.  This should clear out old cached versions of the profile.

Try CiviTeacher: the online video tutorial CiviCRM learning library.

Thanks! I'll give that a try.
