I'm having difficulty using the file on case function for activities -- testing in firefox with joomla.
it appears to work, i get the ajax notification, but the activity is not moved.
support CiviCRM through 'make it happen' initiatives!

There was a bug with file on case and is currently fixed and will be part of next release. You can get the fix from http://fisheye2.atlassian.com/changelog/CiviCRM?cs=28628
