Paypal updates Contact Info Bug???
October 29, 2007, 11:31:01 am
I am using the latest 1.9 stable version and have been testing my live membership pages. I have an individidual membership signup and I'm using Paypal standard. I have a set of profile fields called "Contact Information" that show up on this membership sign-up. The fields it asks for are home address, home city, home state, home zip, first name, last name.

Then after I enter that information and go through the confirmation screen, it takes me to Paypal.

If I use a credit card that is in my name on Paypal, and then I enter my billing address, when I go back into CiviCRM later here is what has occurred:

The home information I entered in my custom data fields on the membership sign up has been overwritten by the address info I gave to Paypal, yet a billing location has ALSO been created, but only my email address is in there. So if CiviCRM automatically created a billing location, why is it not putting Paypal's address information in that area, as opposed to overwriting my home location info?

Is this a bug?

Second, let's say I am Patti Smith but I am paying with my manager's credit card for my sweet membership. I enter all my personal information in the custom data fields and I get created. Then I go to pay in PayPal with my manager's credit card that's in his name. Now, back in CiviCRM my record is gone completely and instead my manager has all my information. I recognize that this is more complicated to deal with, but I guess I'm under the impression that it should just use the billing location and forget about the fact that the credit card is under a different name....

Would this make sense, too?

I would classify both of the below as bugs. We are making a fair amount of schema changes in 2.0 which i think makes it easier to handle the below. Can you file the below issues and we'll handle them in a 2.x release

Specifically we are eliminating the "Billing" location type and giving an address a is_billing attribute.

Done. http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-2366

Can you tell me if the plan for these changes will also be good if I am using PayPal standard instead of Pro??

Thanks much!
