July 11, 2010, 06:58:06 am
Hi there,

I am looking for a documentation on the billing_mode field. 1, 2, 3, ... what does it exacty mean, where does it lead to?

Thanks in advance!

Reinhard.

There is some somewhere but basically there are 3 billing modes

1)  notify -- off-site payment processor hosted processing. (e.g. PaymentExpress, Paypal Std
2) button - ie. paypal express
3) form on site hosted (w https) (e.g eWay, Paypal Pro)

I can't remember which number refers to which type but if you look up the db table you should be able to double check

Kurund,
thank you for your interest -- I am looking for a way to adapt CiviCRM to my needs without interfering too much witch its original ideas. For this reason I do quite some research, code reading and trying to understand what is going on.
Precisely, I am about to figure out in what way a payment processor can help (me) to handle monetary offline transactions (EDIFACT direct debit file exchange with my bank). My debugging efforts so far told me that there are different kinds of "billing_mode"s, and I wonder what they mean and what is best for my situation.

Eileen,
I also thank you for the reply! I found the modes 1,2,3,4 in the DB (table civicrm_payment_processor_type)... Still, I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean by "notify/button/form" ...

Cheers, Reinhard.

Ignore 'button'.

Re form & notify - one is processing the card on your site (form) the other is sending the person to another site (notify)
