Hosting Recommendation Joomla 1.5 and CiviCRM 1.8
October 29, 2007, 11:31:25 am

Looking for hosting recommendation that will support Joomla 1.5 and CiviCRM 1.8. (successful install)

I’ve already seen this list: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRM/Hosting+provider+information

Thanks!
Niki

Bluehost.com
They give you good control over php.ini for CiviCRM settings.

@lcdweb:
I'm on Bluehost but when I go to install via the instructions "install from directory" I keep getting the enter install directory path

in that path name I type (/public_html/'domainname'/foldername/com_civicrm/) and it keeps telling me to enter package directory path.
am I forgetting a section to the path? can you give me an example? sorry to sound like a noobie.

I was just talking with Jake at bluehost, and he said that they only run Joomla 1.0?
I asked him about 1.5, and he said "nope".

Can i still run civiCRM on Joomla 1? Where can I get earlier versions of civiCRM? I can only find 1.9 to d/l.

Thanks!

They only have Joomla 1.0.13 in the Fantastico installer tool. But you can still install 1.5RC3 by loading the package, unzipping and running the Joomla installation. Obviously Fantastico is designed to be as simple as possible, so installing using the Joomla install package requires a little more work, but it's still pretty easy.

Yes CiviCRM runs on 1.0 and 1.5RC3.
