paypal pro recurring
July 12, 2010, 01:57:30 pm
I would like to find out if civicrm contribution supports paypal pro
for recurring auto billing?
I assume it does so I try to do a charge and it doesn't create a
profile in paypal.
where can I find info about that?

Yes, PayPalPro + Recurring is supported by CiviCRM.  I implemented a site using it last month.

This is a better link to documentation, that is updated with more recurring information.

I did all the setup based on docs and for some reason a transaction goes to paypal as a direct payment and doesn't create a profile.
What should I do?

Create a profile?  ???   I don't follow.  A "profile" is not what is created when a contribution is made.  A Transaction is created, and this transaction is attached to a Contact.

Are you using Paypal Pro?

Have you paid the $30/mo to Paypal for Paypal Pro?

Have you paid the ADDITIONAL $30/mo to Paypal for "Recurring Payments"?

Your total bill from Paypal should be in the neighborhood of $60/mo now.  Please confirm this is true.

Ok so, transactions are being processed and you have paypal pro + recurring.

In your account at paypal.com you should see "subscription created" or "recurring created"  in your transaction history at paypal.com in addition to a transaction record for $x

In civicrm you should see in "find contributions" a contribution entered in the person's name and it should say "recurring contribution" under the transaction.

since i don't have your logins to your site nor to your paypal account (I'm not asking for them, btw, that's your private information) then that's all the advice I can offer for now

If you want you can upload and post PNG file screenshots here on these forums of up to 64kb and that may provide a clue.

I think I am trying to understand of what are the setting in civicrm so the recurring contribution is working?
Another question is where can I change the text so instead of contribution it says something else?

Thanks
Boris

The best way to test paypal pro contribution settings is to use your own personal credit card and run a transaction for a very small amount, such as $0.03.  Some people think this is a bad idea, but I think it is the best way.  As long as you don't do this more than a few times, your credit card company will not be upset.  This is my recommendation.

Is there an error when you process the transaction?  Does the transaction show up in paypal.com?   Does it show up in CiviCRM?  Does it show up on your credit card statement from the page?  The results will give you the answer to the question "are my settings correct?"

For your other question, all financial transactions in CiviCRM are called Contributions.  You can edit the .tpl files if you do not like this word being used.

If this is too confusing or you are frustrated, I suggest you hire a professional.

-- If you are on CiviCRM 3.2.x then a new feature "Word Replacement " is introduced where you can specify the words for replacement.
You can check on demo site how it works . http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/admin/options/wordreplacements?reset=1

Hi,

I need to do the same. Does anyone know if it's possible to set contributions up that way i.e. a free period followed by a recurring contribution?

And also, it it possible to enter a recurring contribution manually for another contact if you have their billing and card details?

Thanks.
