Admin Theme
July 14, 2010, 05:15:00 am
Hello everyone!

I was wondering weather you guys are considering writing an admin theme specifically for CiviCRM or why there is no such thing right now. For most clients we have to write one ourselves because we want them to have their workflow - but a default theme would be pretty cool to have....

Usually I use the drupal admin theme "Rubik" http://code.developmentseed.org/rubik but I feel it lacks some features specifically for CiviCRM
For an example what drives me crazy is the fact that Tags (although they are hirarchical) don't show up this way (they end up in a giant list)

So I was just thinking - why don't we come up with an usability optimized admin theme that works on standalone version and with drupal?

What do you think?

Yours,
Florian

We have always used rootCandy (Drupal admin theme) for CiviCRM,

I personally don't see a need for a specific theme for the backend. Most importantly is that the admin theme should be extendable (not fixed width) to handle some of the civicrm tables, etc.

And you have all the site using rootcandy or how can you say that's only for civicrm that it's this theme but the rest of the site got a different one ?

And following the drupal motto: "for any module doing X, there are a few dozen doing almost the same" ;) let me add

http://drupal.org/project/sections

More specifically what I had in mind was how to handle the public civicrm pages (eg event registration) vs all the others.

Don't think there is a simple reg exp to handle that, but whoever has something, I'd be delighted ;)

I thought I should chip in here (belatedly) that civicrm_theme will use the default theme for the public pages and the civicrm_theme just for the admin pages.
