After doing a search by "Search -> Find Contacts" and getting the results, the search criteria stay expaned and there is no icon to collapse that area of the screen.

I am using CiviCRM 3.2 beta 3.

Sarah - The "Find Contacts" search hasn't ever included the collapse feature we have on other search forms because it only has a few fields. That said, there's a good argument for consistency w/ the other search forms. :-)

I've added the collapsible accordions to 3.2 - revision 28719. They'll be part of the next 3.2 release tarball.

I didn't notice the inconsistency on prior versions b/c the search filters were horizontal so I never needed to collapse it. Thanks for getting this in the 3.2 version.

to Sarah's last point --
i don't think the vertical layout is an improvement. seems to not be a great use of space.

will this form eventually have the multi-select feature, with the ajax effect (like advanced search)? if so, horizontal layout with each set of options falling underneath would layout well

(but this is all very minor)

Hmm - the vertical layout was in response to a number of complaints about the old layout breaking under lower resolutions, narrower "containers", etc. It uses the new <div> based layout so should be easy to rearrange with css. That said, we'll see what other reactions we get :-)

they do grow in width depending on the length of the options, so that makes sense. i can see the value in the vertical layout as the default.
