using Profile to display contacts whose memberships are activated
July 15, 2010, 09:33:43 am
Hello

I am creating a public viewable membership directory using civicrm. I have created a profile whereby visitors fill out a form:

http://www.khwarizmi.org/civicrm/profile/create?reset=1&gid=8

The contact is saved and as soon as the contact makes an online payment, the site administrator upgrades the contact to a member. Now I would like to see a listing of only the contacts whose membership has been activated. How could I do that?

Regards

If you are using a Profile to show the list of 'members' then you can restrict the contacts that are shown via the profile to incldude only those contacts in a group - so try making a Smart Group of your members and use this for this Profile. Does that help?

First step is to create a Smart Group from the Advanced Search screen. Do a search using the criteria you want (e.g. Membership status or statuses to include and membership type or types if that's relevant). From the Search results 'actions' - select new smart group and save it. Going forward all members who meet the criteria will show up when you select that group in a search or from Manage Groups.

If you want to display the listing "publicly" (to folks who visit your site) - you would set up another profile for search and listing, and use the "Limit to Group" setting for that profile to make sure only contacts in the "Active Members" smart group are listed.
