Fourth "mail()" option on Outbound Mail settings
July 15, 2010, 09:46:29 am
There's a fourth option on the outbound mail settings called "mail()".  It's defined in line 56 of CRM/Admin/Form/Setting/Smtp.php, and it's even given an option in the javascript at the bottom of templates/CRM/Admin/Form/Setting/Smtp.tpl. However, it doesn't do anything and looks weird.

I believe that's a new alternative way to send mail (using the PHP mail function).
Are you saying it's not actually working? (sending mail)

Oh, right, that makes sense.  I wasn't even thinking of ways "mail()" could be a legit option since there were no additional options that opened up when it's selected.  Maybe some context would be good because I thought it was some kind of typo at first.

Isn't it the default ? or did you upgrade ?

yes, mail doesn't need any extra option. Should just work.

It was an upgrade; I had simply used the SMTP settings from before so I never bothered to check whether the mail() option worked.  However, now, if SMTP is selected already and you go to the page, the SMTP settings don't show up.  I had to poke around the other options and then select SMTP again in order to get it to show up.  I'll take a look at that this afternoon, hopefully.
