July 19, 2010, 03:36:40 am
Hi Everyone

I have found some topics relating to the devlopment of a gift aid module for CiviCRM for Uk based charities. Is there any news on this as i cant seem to find anything other than "were working on it"?

Chelcone,

There was some discussion on implementing Gift Aid support in CiviCRM. But I am not aware of anyone working on it. So if you think it is important for you / your organization please consider sponsoring this feature.

Hi Kurund

I found this when looking up information http://civicrm.org/blogs/michaelmcandrew/gift-aid so i didnt know if anyone knew more.

I have managed to make a work around that creates the desired results but a proper solution would make me more comfortable.

Hi,

The functionality is now complete - it has been developed my Millertech.  We should be releasing the code in the near future.  I would hope this will be released within the next couple of months but that isn't a garuntee.  Sorry I can't be more specific with the time frame.  Feel free to ask more questions and also get in contact if you would be able to help with the release / testing.

hey michael:

any chance u can put the code out on a public svn (under an open source license, GPL v2 or later, or AGPL v3 or AFL) so others can potentially use it. I think code out there (even unsupported) is a big step forward

thanx

Will the solution (as Lobo said) be an open source solution or will you be charging for it?

I have two months till my live date on this project so I'm just trying to build a plan up on timescales. Is there any chance of a more accurate timescale for release?

Thanks for the update! I'm sure a lot of UK users will be relieved to read this.

I'm also interested in this and could potentially help out with testing.

Hey there,

Yes the elusive code will be / is open source, though it is worth bearing in mind that open source != free to produce and if you would like to contribute toward the cost that would be most welcome.

Having said that, there isn't any relation between the code not being out there and it being free.  Millertech have written the code so far (you might want to contact them) and I've seen it demoed, though haven't got the source code yet.  Will make it public (in a pre-release state) as soon as I get hold of it and have the opportunity to.

Cheers,
Michael

I have a promise from the folks involved that the code will be released by the end of this week

we are pushing real hard to see the code before the UK training, so we can use and integrate it during the code sprint

That's great news!
Now we just have to get it working on Joomla too, add support for Joomla 1.6 ACLS and go whoo!

alanski:

wanna take the lead and help convert this into a joomla component that works with civicrm etc

at the bristol code sprint, depending on the interest and skill level, we might try to work this to be an independent drupal module without any core hacks
