Secure https question
October 30, 2007, 01:26:29 pm
I have Drupal and CiviCRM set up in my httpdocs directory, and need to put files into the httpsdocs directory in order to have a secure connection. How do I do this with the setup I have? I don't really want to copy everything into the secure directory and have redundant information (that has to be updated in two places)...but I'm not sure how to get (for example) a contribution/membership signup page on the secure side.

any reason why you cannot have your https virtual host point to the same directory location as the http one or make httpsdocs a symlink to httpdocs

That's what I requested the host to do but they said it wasn't possible. That made me second guess myself because it had seemed like an easy answer at first... Maybe I will ask again now that I know it is a valid idea. :)

Definitely ask again. You shouldn't have to copy the files. Also make sure you've turned on the force secure ssl setting (administer CiviCRM > global settings > resource urls)

Thanks for these... Once I got them on the phone it turned out to be a very easy switch to turn on. Not sure why they didn't do it the first time, but it's working now.
