[SOLVED] profiles seem to be ignoring strict dedupe rules for individuals
July 20, 2010, 07:25:58 am
Hello,

I haven't had this problem with any of my other instances, but one of my Civi installs seems to be ignoring dedupe rules.  The strict dedupe rule for individuals contains only "Email" with a weight of 10 and a threshold of 10.  I believe these are the defaults.

Furthermore, my profiles are all set to update the contact on a duplicate match.  However, each time I fill out one of the forms on the website, I end up with a new record with the same email address.

Interestingly, if I navigate to /civicrm/admin/deduperules&reset=1 and click "Use rule," the rule identifies the duplicates.  So it seems the problem isn't that the rule doesn't work so as much as that the rule isn't being called on submission.

Anyone seen anything like this before?  Any suggestions as to where to begin troubleshooting?

Thanks!
-Pitt

PS: The instance in question runs version 3.1.4 on Drupal.

I beleive that this was a bug in 3.1.4 that was fixed.  Here is a similar problem, relating to events, but it probably also related to profiles too

http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-6211

Upgrade to 3.1.5 that should hopefully fix

Thanks for your reply, Stoob.  I will give that a shot in the next day or two and report back.

Cheers,

Upgrading to 3.16 from 3.14 solved the problem.  Thanks again.
