CiviCRM Performance Issues (+ Job Offer?)

Hi all,

We're launching a new Drupal + CiviCRM site soon, but we've run into some serious performance issues. Our site, as it currently stands, is running super-slow and becomes virtually unusable if even 4-5 users are logged in at once.  We've been able to alleviate this somewhat by disabling CiviCRM for the time being, but as this is a core functionality of our site, it's obviously not a long term solution.

My request is two-fold:

1) What is the ideal hosting environment for a large Drupal + CiviCRM site with a moderate amount of users? Assume lots of big modules are installed, including Ubercart, and we want to support at least a dozen simultaneous logged-in users. What kind of CPU, memory, etc should I be looking at? What have you had success with?

2) Is anyone willing to help us get this site to a stable and reasonable state? Our shop is in a bit of a bind, if there are any contractors out there who think they can help us fix this, we'd love to bring you on for a spell to help solve this. Could also lead to additional work down the road! Please e-mail gengel@4Site.tv with rates if interested.

a few questions:

1. how bad is the site without CiviCRM? is it still fairly slow?

2. what are the specs on your hosting solution

3. In general for large sites, we strongly recommend a dedicated server or at the very least a VPS solution
