Dashboard acting strangely
July 23, 2010, 07:58:48 am
Hi,

I have civi installed with drupal

When I go to my civicrm dashboard, (by clicking on the civicrm button from the main drupal menu), the dashboard shows my whole website, the website freezes up and in about 10 seconds everything goes blank and the status bar says transferring data from www.google-analytics.com; what could be the problem?

also let me know if you need more data to find out the core of this

thanks in advance
-sulav

Did you try logout / login? Also try "Refresh Dashboard Data"

Re: Dashboard acting strangely

I currently have this problem. I've just upgraded Drupal core 6.16 to .19, Google Analytics 6.x-2.2 to 2.3, Views 6.x-2.10 to 2.11, Date 6.x-2.4 to 2.6 and some other modules and installed jQuery UI module. I'm currently running CiviCRM 3.1.4 and plan to upgrade to 3.2 next. Should I go ahead and upgrade to 3.2 now with hopes it will correct this problem?

With Mozilla Firefox, I see the problem as described above but with Internet Explorer I see "Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred. One of parameters (value: ) is not of type Integer." My screen capture file is too large to attach, but you can see it -- go to http://test.nccommunities.org, login as demo with password demo and go to civicrm.

I logged out and back in, refreshed dashboard data, reconfigured my dashboard, cleared views cache, and disabled Google Analytics but nothing has helped.

This is on a test system, not a real, active site.

I upgraded civicrm from 3.1.4 to 3.2.3. That didn't help. On the civicrm home page, I just see LOTS of Loading icons spining.

I'm going to try doing all the upgrades again, but one at a time this time.

Judy - you might try searching at http://civicrm.org/civisearch for "dashboard not loading", "dashlet" etc.

Also, try enabling FireFox console and see if there are errors there (as well as checking your web server logs). I suspect something's not quite right w/ your site configuration or permissions.

I was having this problem. I upgraded Google Analytics to version 3, and in the process logged in as the admin instead of my user account. So when I went back into Civi, I had to set the dashboard. On a hunch, I only added a Top Donors report that I have, and everything ran fine across the board. But when I went back to the dashboard and added the Activities dashlet, I started having the trouble all over again.

Is there any way for me to reset the dashboard again so I can leave off the Activities dashlet?

I've confirmed this with several user accounts, and as long as I don't activate the Activities dashlet, everything runs fine. Any ideas? I'm running Civi 3.2.3 with drupal 6.19, Analytics module 3.0, Zen/CTI Flex Theme.

I examined guyiac's install and found two versions of CiviCRM code were installed in sites/all/modules. There were some other inconsistencies with the install as well. What I did was move his site to my servers, but with a clean copy of all files (and in the correct locations) and I cleaned up his DBs a bit.

His problem is now fixed.

I would classify his situation as a faulty install.

This is an FYI post. I plan to delete user 'demo' and recreate it, which should solve my problem, but that's not a good fix for a real site.

I'm using CiviCRM 3.1.4 with Drupal 6.19.

I've got my test site working for user admin -- I was able to click "Configure your dashboard" and eliminate reports. I kept two real small reports. For user 'demo', reconfiguring the dashboard doesn't work. The problem seems to be with the Activities report. As admin, I finally deleted the Activities report -- but that doesn't make any difference.

Clicking "Refresh Dashboard Data" doesn't get rid of the problem -- it just reloads the old page again -- it's still trying to load all of the reports, including the reports I took off and Activities, which doesn't exist any more.

I've tried all the recommendations that I can find except Firefox console -- I don't see a console in Firefox. The problem exists with browsers Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, Google Chrome, Opera. You can see what's happening best with Internet Explorer. Go to http://test.nccommunities.org/ and login as demo with password demo. Then click CiviCRM in the left menu or go to http://test.nccommunities.org/civicrm. With Internet Explorer, I saw a CiviCRM message go by in the status bar on the bottom of the screen and the status bar ends up with "Error on page." All the reports are generated except Activities, which displays the website page with a Dashlet error message -- "One of parameters (value: ) is not of the type Integer." It takes a long time to finish -- a few minutes -- you can't scroll down the page until it has finished. I did a PrtSc of the final page saved as .doc and .pdf but they are too big to attach to this post (200KB).

I'll leave the site as it is for a few days in case someone has suggestions you'd like me to try. Then I'll delete user 'demo' and recreate it.

Somehow I had gotten an invalid email address for user demo. When I changed it to a valid email address, the dashboard loaded fine.

And the Activities report has something added by demo.

I had a similar problem.  On IE the home page would load...but very slowly.  On firefox and Chrome the loading icon would spin for a long time and there didn't seem to be an stop to it.

I found that I have one empty contact.  (No name, no address, no email, nothing)  I deleted that contact and the page loaded great.

Just thought I'd mention this for any future upgrades or admins who have a similar problem.
