Need help debugging a smart group search

I am working with another person on developing/testing a set of Smart Group searches for our site before it goes live, and I am unable to manage some of the queries that were created.

When I start out at Contacts > Manage Groups and click on the "Members" links for each Smart Group, for 5 of our (currently 34) Smart Groups I get a yellow box that says simply,

Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.
Could not get details for custom search.
Return to home page.

with no other error messages.  Needless to say, that makes it hard for me to try to figure out what's going on!

The only other thing I noticed that might help is, for the failing Smart Groups, the (Joomla) URL changes to something like:

http://<site>/administrator/index2.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/contact/search/custom&reset=1&force=1&ssID=ssID

but for the working queries, the (Joomla) URL changes to something like:

http://<site>/administrator/index2.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/group/search&reset=1&force=1&context=smog&gid=gid

I should note however that if I go to Search > Find Contacts and select any of the smart groups (including the 5 I can't initiate via Manage Groups), I do get the results I expect. 

Any idea what might be going on?

Looks like the ones that aren't working are Smart Groups created from custom searches (hence the search/custom path). This might be a bug in the Manage Groups "Members" link for this use case. However I just tested this theory on my 3.2 sandbox and I am able to navigate to the list of contacts in a smart group from manage groups for a smart group I created from the Proximity Search - so the bug might have been fixed or it might be narrower in scope (i.e. certain custom searches are affected).

You should be above to get a more detailed error msg if you enable "Backtrace" from Administer > Global Settings > Debugging. And narrowing down which custom search(es) cause the problem and recreating on the public demo would be a good next step as well.
