Thoughts on tag sets

Hi,

Just taken a look at tag sets on sandbox. Great new feature, good work! A few thoughts:

(1) How are parent/child tags intended to operate?
What I did:
- Created a tag set: Test Activity Tags.
- Created tags in this tag set: Outcome 1, Outcome 2.
- Created tags under these tags: Activity 1A, Activity 1B; Activity 2A, Activity 2B.
- Edited an activity & tried to apply tags to it.
Desired result: can apply the child tags (Activity 1A etc) to the activity.
Observed result: can only apply the parent tags (Outcome 1/2) to the activity.

(2) Although tags can be applied to activities, I couldn't find a way to search activities by tag.

If parent/child tags are supported as in (1), it would be good if the search followed the tag hierarchy, so that in the example above, searching on Outcome 1 would also return activities tagged Activity 1A/1B.

Currently we don't support nested tags for Tagsets. So you won't be able to tag Activity 1A etc

Did you check Advanced Search, Activities pane?

Search for nested tags is not supported.

Thanks for clarifying this. Maybe the UI shouldn't allow creation of nested tags if they can't actually be used?

Yes and I can't see any tagsets there on sandbox.civicrm.org, even though there are tagsets configured for activities.

Yup, fixed and will be part of next release.

Right, we only added static tags for activities and not tag sets. This is missing feature wana file an issue for this.

Right, we only added static tags for activities and not tag sets. This is missing feature wana file an issue for this.
