problem with batch update and custom data field
November 01, 2007, 01:42:19 pm
Hi, I am running version 1.8.11248, but I just tried the 1.9 demo site and had the same problem. (Not wanting to upgrade my own site to 1.9 until import issues are fixed.)

Here's what I did. Perhaps someone can let me know if I have simply misunderstood something, or if this is a bug and I should file an issue for fixing.

Any help is appreciated, as I need this feature badly. Perhaps there is some easier way to do what I am trying to do? Other folks out there must have to sync their contributions with their org's accounting software somehow?

Thanks!

- Lucy Perry

steps to re-create problem:

1. Create custom field for contributions, called "exported to accounting system", making it a yes/no field with default value of no (0). Field is active

2. Create profile called "update for accounting export", which contains this one custom field. Profile is active.

3. Do a search for some set of contributions. In real life I would export this set into our accounting software, then I'd want to mark these records as exported. For now I'm not actually exporting but want to confirm that I can mark the records.

4. So with search results I click "all 50 records" and select "batch update Contributions via profile"

5. On next page I select the profile I just made, called "update for accounting export" and click continue

6. Next page I see each record and can select yes or no for "exported to accounting system". I set all to yes and continue. CiviCRM says all these records were updated.

7. When I go look at the contributions the update has not been saved.

lucy:

1. what specific import issues are you waiting on to be fixed?

2. Can you please file an issue for this against 1.9. If trivial to fix, we'll fix it in 1.9, else will need to push to 2.0.

Lobo -

>> 1. what specific import issues are you waiting on to be fixed?

This thread describes some import problems in 1.9 waiting to be fixed.
http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,1464.0.html
Although now that I re-read it, perhaps the problem is only in joomla and it will work fine in my drupal site?
Anyway it scared me as I am doing *lots* of importing data these days and I need for it to work.

Will do.

Thanks.

That is a joomla specific issue. You might want to try a small drupal import on the demo site just to make sure

I'm having the same problem as described in this thread, except my custom contribution field is a date field (deposit date), not a yes/no.  I'm using version 1.8.11536 of CiviCRM with Drupal.

Is the fix for this issue an upgrade to version 1.9?  If not, any other suggestions?

Thanks for any help!

Please create a sample import file and sample custom data and test on the demo server. If you can reproduce the bug, please file an issue along with instructions to reproduce and we'll take a look and fix if needed
