Manual Installation Instructions for 3.2?
July 31, 2010, 03:38:19 pm
Hello,
I am sure there is an easy fix to this, maybe other than a manual installation. My situation is this, I am working on a server administered by Aegir, therefore the path to pressflow drupal installs and therefore to civicrm is:

/data/disk/drupal/distro/001/civi1
/data/disk/drupal/distro/001/civi2
/data/disk/drupal/distro/001/civi3

I am not looking for a multi-site installation, I just can't seem to get the installer to work. Anyway, that's why I was wondering if there are manual installation instructions for 3.2, I have them for 2.0 versions and was not sure if anything has changed.

Thanks

Donald Lobo

your best bet might be to install civicrm in the "default" place and then move it over to the aegir branch and fix the settings file

you might also want to check:

http://civicrm.org/blogs/scyrma/civicrm-and-aegir

and check with koumbit on the current status. I also know davej from circle has been installing civi via aegir recently so they might be of more help

Hi Jen,

One of my colleagues has been looking at using Civi with Aegir; we decided to treat a combination of Drupal + Civi as a platform, so e.g. we would have a platform comprising Drupal 6.17 + Civi 3.1.6 . Thus Civi is installed in the standard sites/all/modules/ in our case.

Could you post details of the problem you're seeing?

Hi Dave,
I am so sorry for taking so long to get back to you, things have been extremely crazy here:) Thank you so much for your response, and again, forgive me. I worked with my host as I did the install manually and they figured out that APC was interfering, so it was disabled. They created pressflow sites for me that are not managed by Aegir, but somehow can created through Aegir(I am not a server tech, so I have no idea of the ins and outs of it), and they look as if it's still a multi-site setup. This works great, and my host is absolutely wonderful:).

I have been slammed with projects and in the whole scheme of that I have clients who have a need not only for civicrm, but for strong community group integration. I was initially building everything from "scratch", but drupal commons has alot already packed into it and already configured as well as being highly customizable like any other drupal site. So now I am trying to integrate civi with drupal commons, which I assume is the same, but I would like to have the ease of Aegir as well. I am already developing a drupal commons site for a client and need civi for it as well, but am having trouble with it again.

Sorry if this is long winded, but I was hoping you could assist. Feel free to email me as well.

thanks so much,
Jen

Hi Guys,

So....did anyone happen to find a link for manual installation instructions for 3.2?

I can't seem to even find a sample file called 'civicrm.settings.xxx' in the who module?
