Please enter a package directory
August 03, 2010, 11:13:51 am
Following the civicrm upgrade directions... I have unzipped and uploaded the 3.2 stable version to JOOMLA_1.5.x_ROOT/administrator/components/com_installer/component/

However, every time I try and install it in joomla using "Install from Directory" I get the error "Please enter a package directory." I have quadruple checked the address I enter, re-downloaded and uploaded the file yet I keep getting the same error. Any ideas as to what I am missing or doing wrong?

that message means you don't have the right directory location entered

make sure it's the full root. not relative to your public_html directory

I uploaded the un-packaged "com_civicrm" folder to my server.

I have tried every combination I could think...

1) http://domain/administrator/components/com_installer/component/com_civicrm
2) /domain/administrator/components/com_installer/component/com_civicrm
3) /administrator/components/com_installer/component/com_civicrm
4) /domain/administrator/components/com_installer/component/
5) /administrator/components/com_installer/component/
6) /public_html/administrator/components/com_installer/component/com_civicrm
7) /public_html/administrator/components/com_installer/component/

Each on of these gives me the same response "Please enter a package directory." What am I missing?

none of those will be your root directory. it will be something like: /home/accountname/public_html/...
ask your hosting provider to tell you the root directory
