We certainly need the de-dupe functionality.  In addition I would vote for the following:

CRM-1917 Household / Individual Addressing improvement (per community feedback on the wiki HouseHolding ).

CRM-1883 Add "Send Email to Contacts" task to Find Participants, Find Members and Find Contributions search screen "actions".

CRM-1988 "Add Contacts to Event" action option from search results. Allows you to quickly register a batch of contacts for an event.

Thanks for asking guys, keep up the great work!

Note that 1.8 is now in code freeze status. i.e. no new features are being added. All new feature requests should be added to the 2.x list.

While we love the response of the community with regard to feature requests and issues filed, we need to figure out better ways to get the community to step up even more and help with other non-coding activities. Some of the things you can help out with include

  • Improve and enhance the documentation on the wiki at http://docs.civicrm.org/
  • Respond to forum posts, specifically helping the new folks with install / smtp / other issues
  • Write a case study in the CiviCRM showcase forum at http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/board,4.0.html
  • Sign up to be a document maintainer at http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/board,4.0.html
  • Consider hiring someone to develop a core feature (and contribute the code back!) that you need rather than waiting for it to be built

The success of an open source project is strongly tied to the strength of the community behind it. Please consider giving back to the project with some of the ways mentioned above (or some other ways that you are aware of)
